Shanghai is a very modern city with some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. But only a few steps away some old Shikumen quarters have still survived... For how long I do not know, considering the fast changes in this bustling city with approx. 21 million inhabitants. But in some of the quiet streets one feels more being in a small laid-back village... A city full of contrast and contradiction.
